This past school year has seen me get all techy. I now blog, facebook, use open-source progs, IPod and post pics on Picasa. I've upgraded to home theatre (in a box), a laptop, highspeed and to a superzoom camera. I now use wiki's, YouTube and RSS.
It is so cool!
I've found that I really enjoy all of this. It could be that it feeds into my feelings of superiority or a deep seated need to be white and nerdy.
Any was you slice it, it is so cool!

Why I love dogs
How can you not love dogs? They are always loyal, always love you and the drool.

Almost Done - A Reflection on the Past School Year
Well, It's almost June in my first year at my (no longer) new school. According to my school clock, I have about 31 days and 14 hours until the school year is done.
It's been an interesting ride.
I first got the job a little more than a year ago with the admonition to follow the curriculum - duh! This was followed by a warning that "teaching is serious work"
Nice start. To be honest, I was not sure that I wanted to teach here at all. (With that rousing start - who could blame me). But I perservered. Through complaining students and vadalism. Disrepect and failure. Good times and bad. Looking back on it, I'm sure that there were more good times than bad (or else, I really am some sort of masochist).
However, the constant grind followed with my grumpiness about "how it outta be run", added to the near constant complaining and lack of effort and disrespect mixed with teaching students for half a day that willingly light each other on fire all led to apathy about the work.
My fault really, I should have seen the signs earlier and taken steps.
Then came the wake-up call in the form of an evaluation. Even though I knew that it was well-meant, it did NOT come across that way.
So now I rebuild with a month left.
I hope next year is better.
I will make it so.
